Website and portal terms

Last updated 2 November 2026

These terms apply when you use handoverconveyancing.com.au and the Handover client portal. Handover Conveyancing is a business name of Corporate Legal Pty Ltd ABN 52 640 661 847, an incorporated legal practice in New South Wales.

1. Information only: Content on this website is general information, not legal advice. It does not take your circumstances into account. We only act for you once you have signed up, accepted our costs agreement and we have confirmed we can act.

2. Signing up: Signing up and paying is a request for us to act. We will confirm we can act after checking for conflicts and verifying your identity. If we cannot act, we refund what you paid in full.

3. Prices: Our fixed fees are shown on our website and include the work described in our costs agreement. Searches, certificates and government fees are extra and are paid at settlement. Prices may change, but the price in your accepted costs agreement applies to your matter.

4. NSW property only: We act on residential property sales and purchases in New South Wales. Matters outside that scope may be declined or quoted separately.

5. Messages in your portal: Our team answers the messages you send through your portal, usually within 1 business day. If something is urgent, such as a deadline today, say so at the start of your message. Do not rely on a portal message for a decision about your legal rights without confirming it with us.

6. Your portal account: Keep your mobile number and email up to date and do not share your sign-in codes. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.

7. Payments and bank details: We will never change our bank details by email, SMS or chat. Before you transfer any money, call us on a number you already have to confirm the details.

8. Introductions: If you ask us to introduce you to another business, that business is responsible for its own services and fees. We do not guarantee their work.

9. Intellectual property: Content, templates and software on this website and portal belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only for your own transaction.

10. Liability: Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of general website content, or from the website or portal being unavailable. Our liability for legal services is set out in your costs agreement and limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation.

11. Privacy: We handle your personal information under our privacy policy.

12. Links: Links to other websites are for convenience. We are not responsible for their content.

13. Governing law: These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales.
